Francesco Verde was born in Santa Maria Capua Vetere, Italy, on June 12,1974. He received the Dr. Eng. degree summa cum laude in electronic engineering from the Second University of Napoli, Italy, in 1998, and the Ph.D. degree in information engineering from the University of Napoli Federico II, in 2002. Since December 2002, he has been with the University of Napoli Federico II. He first served as an Assistant Professor of signal theory and mobile communications and, since December 2011, he has served as an Associate Professor of telecommunications with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. His research activities include orthogonal/non-orthogonal multiple-access techniques, space-time processing for cooperative/cognitive communications, wireless systems optimization, and software-defined networks. Prof. Verde has been involved in several technical program committees of major IEEE conferences in signal processing and wireless communications. He has served as Associate Editor for IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON COMMUNICATIONS since 2017 and Senior Area Editor of the IEEE SIGNAL PROCESSING LETTERS since 2018. He was an Associate Editor of the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON SIGNAL PROCESSING (from 2010 to 2014) and  IEEE SIGNAL PROCESSING LETTERS (from 2014 to 2018), as well as Guest Editor of the EURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing in 2010 and SENSORS MDPI in 2018.
